My Tips & Tricks 🎾

Woof! I may be "just" a little Chorkie, but I've already learned SO much! As an expert on small dogs (and of course on cuddling, playing, and being Mary's first great love 😉) I'm sharing my most valuable tips with you here! 💡

Oh, how exciting!

I'm Lulu, a little Chorkie lady, and I can hardly wait to show you my world! You know, we little furballs like Chihuahuas and Chorkies are simply irresistible with our cute appearance and playful character. But hey, we also have a few special needs that our humans need to pay attention to! Let me give you some tips and tricks from my perspective, so that me and my little friends can live a happy and healthy life.

Training and Socialization:

Sometimes humans think that we small dogs don't need as much attention when it comes to training. They like to spoil us and call us "lap dogs". But we also need clear rules and boundaries to know how to behave. So, please help me learn basic commands like "sit", "down" and "stay" from the beginning. It's also important that I get used to different situations, people and other animals. If you help me make social contacts early on, you can help me avoid later fears and behavioral problems.

Exercise and Training:

Even though we're small, we still need adequate exercise and training. Daily walks and playtime are important to satisfy our need for movement and challenge our minds. Plus, we small dog breeds are often very intelligent and learn new tricks quickly. How about some varied training to keep me mentally fit while strengthening our bond?

Nutrition:

Did you know that we small dogs have a high metabolism and need an energy-rich diet? Please make sure to give me high-quality dog food that's specifically designed for the needs of small breeds. Avoid too much fat and sugar in my food, as this can lead to obesity.

Health:

Unfortunately, we small dog breeds are more susceptible to certain diseases like dental problems, joint diseases and eye problems. Regular vet visits are therefore important to monitor my health and detect possible illnesses early.

Safety:

Due to our small size, we are particularly vulnerable in traffic and when dealing with other dogs. Please always pay attention to my safety and carry me in your arms when in doubt.

Tips and Tricks:

Use a dog ramp or steps to give me access to furniture and other areas. Pay attention to the right size of collar, leash and harness. Dress me warmly in cold weather. Provide me with adequate rest and retreat opportunities. And don't forget to reward good behavior with treats and praise!

💚 Jealousy: Yes, we can get jealous!

Lulu's embarrassing truth: Okay, I admit it... When Mary and Steffi get too close, I IMMEDIATELY push myself between them! 😅 Mary is MY first great love, everyone should know that!

Why we do this: We small dogs are very affectionate and protective. We just want to make sure we're not forgotten!

My tip for humans: Give us attention in such moments too, but make it clear that you still love us. A quick pet and "It's okay, Lulu" calms me down immediately! 💕

Conclusion:

As small dogs, we are wonderful companions who bring a lot of joy into your lives. With the right care and attention, you can enable us to live a happy and healthy life.
